Measles exposure alert near Portland, CEI Hub spill-response planning, and a CareOregon privacy notice
Portland, OR – March 4, 2026 – Measles exposure alert near Portland, CEI Hub spill-response financing steps, and a CareOregon data incident update.
Public health officials issued a new measles exposure alert in the Portland metro area, while county leaders moved ahead on planning for a major hazardous-materials response along the Willamette River. Separately, a recent notice highlighted a privacy incident involving some CareOregon and Health Share of Oregon members.
Measles exposure window reported at Oregon City emergency department
The Oregon Health Authority and Clackamas County said people may have been exposed to measles in the emergency department waiting room at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City. The exposure window listed by officials runs from 9:57 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, to 12:22 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26.
Health officials said anyone who was in the waiting room during that timeframe should contact a health care provider to discuss risk and immunity based on vaccination records, age, or laboratory evidence of prior infection. Officials also emphasized that measles spreads through the air and can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infectious person has left an area.
Multnomah County advances CEI Hub financial-assurance work
Multnomah County leaders announced next steps toward requiring financial assurances from owners and operators at the Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub, a six-mile stretch of industrial facilities along the west bank of the Willamette River. County officials said the goal is to ensure resources are available for emergency management and health responses if there is a major spill or release of hazardous materials.
In its announcement, the county said CEI Hub operators are not currently required to provide financial assurances that would give local agencies immediate access to funds for response and recovery costs. The county described the new work as a step toward a future ordinance focused on public-health protection and accountability for disaster-related expenses.
CareOregon/Health Share member notice highlights privacy incident
A recent report about a CareOregon and Health Share of Oregon notification said the organizations discovered in October 2025 that unauthorized individuals accessed some members’ information without permission. The report said potentially exposed data could include names, dates of birth, health plan information, Medicaid ID numbers, Medicare ID numbers (if applicable), and primary care provider office information. The report said Social Security numbers and financial information were not accessed.
