HealthCare.gov opens 2027 enrollment as benchmark premiums rise 13%
HealthCare.gov’s 2027 enrollment runs through Jan. 15 as KFF reports a 13% average increase in benchmark silver premiums.
HealthCare.gov’s enrollment window for 2027 coverage opened Nov. 1, 2026, and runs through Jan. 15, 2027. Shoppers using the federal marketplace can select or change coverage during that period.
Finalized benchmark silver premiums are up an average 13% nationwide, KFF reports. The increase is 11% in states using HealthCare.gov and 16% in states running their own enrollment platforms—a five-percentage-point gap. The national rise is slower than the 26% increase from 2025 to 2026, but premiums are still 42% higher cumulatively than in 2025.
Does that mean a shopper’s bill will rise 13%? No. These are benchmark averages, not individual premiums; what someone pays depends on location, plan choice and eligibility for tax credits. CMS says more than 75% of people purchasing coverage through HealthCare.gov will have access to premiums at or below $50 in 2027, but that is not a promise of an individual’s final price. Shoppers can compare their available plans and prices on HealthCare.gov before Jan. 15.
