Landmark Family Dental Care is a dental practice that is committed to improving clinical practice through practice-based research. The Dental Practice-Based Research Network (DPBRN) is a collaborative effort of various dental practices and organizations, including Kaiser Permanente Northwest/Permanente Dental Associates in Portland, Oregon; Health Partners of Minneapolis, Minnesota; University of Alabama at Birmingham; University of Copenhagen; Alabama Dental Practice Research Network; and clinicians and patients in Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
The DPBRN has a proven track record of successful collaborations between researchers and community clinicians, engaging patients as well. This network has led to improvements in study designs and customization of protocols to fit daily clinical practice, with 19 studies completed or ongoing at the time of publication. The goal of this initiative is to stimulate productive clinical research experiences and educational activities for clinical research, fostering scientific collaborations between dental students/residents and clinical faculty, and potentially stimulating additional clinical research pursuits among clinically-oriented faculty members and dental students.
Landmark Family Dental Care is part of this network, contributing to the advancement of dental practices and the discovery of ways to improve them. By participating in the National Dental PBRN, the practice is able to investigate research questions, share experiences and expertise, and promote practical science for the benefit of dental professionals and patients.
