Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD temporarily closed Creekview Middle School in Fort Worth on Friday, Feb. 27, after a norovirus outbreak affected more than 100 students, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth.
The district said students began getting sick earlier in the week, and the number of reported cases grew even after initial cleaning. District leaders consulted with Tarrant County Public Health as the situation developed, and the campus closure was intended to allow for additional disinfecting aligned with public health guidance. The district said the school was expected to reopen Monday, March 2.
Norovirus is a highly contagious gastrointestinal illness that can spread quickly in crowded settings such as schools. District communications encouraged families to follow school instructions and standard illness policies while the campus was disinfected.
Public health access: Free kidney and breast cancer screenings set for March 14
Tarrant County Precinct 2 Commissioner Alisa Simmons and partners announced a free community health event offering kidney disease and breast cancer screenings, along with preventive health education and a resource fair for county residents.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tarrant County Sub-Courthouse, 700 E. Abram St., in Arlington. Organizers said the expo will also offer low-cost flu shots and additional health services and information.
