Methodist Westover Hills launches heart health collaboration

On March 4, Methodist Hospital Westover Hills announced a year-long collaboration with the American Heart Association aimed at expanding cardiovascular education on the Far West Side.

The initiative includes free quarterly educational sessions throughout 2026 at the Mays Family YMCA at Potranco. Topics will include heart disease prevention, stroke recognition, healthy eating and heart health for women. Hospital leaders said the effort is intended to reduce barriers to care and improve community awareness of cardiovascular risk.

The hospital noted that cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death nationally, and the sessions are designed to provide practical, prevention-focused information in a neighborhood setting.

Baptist highlights new hybrid operating room

Baptist Health System also drew attention this week to its hybrid operating room technology after an 82-year-old patient credited the advanced surgical suite with helping treat a dangerous abdominal aortic aneurysm. A March 5 KSAT report described how the hybrid room allows surgeons to combine imaging and minimally invasive techniques in a single setting.

Hospital officials said the technology supports more complex cardiovascular procedures and reflects continued investment in advanced surgical care in San Antonio.
