Norovirus advisory, mobile mammograms, and a Texas Medicaid system update

Outbreak watch: Norovirus prompts school closure in Tarrant County

A norovirus outbreak closed Creekview Middle School in Fort Worth on Friday, Feb. 27, as Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD and Tarrant County Public Health worked on additional disinfecting aligned with public health guidance.

In an advisory referenced by local reporting, Tarrant County Public Health said norovirus activity in the community appears to be high and noted that outbreaks can occur in group settings such as schools, shelters, childcare, hospitals and long-term care facilities.

Healthcare access: Mobile screening mammograms scheduled in Arlington

Texas Health Resources’ Mobile Health – Wellness for Life unit lists public-access screening mammogram stops across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Arlington dates at Canales Furniture (2002 E. Abram St.). The schedule shows a stop on March 3 and another on March 10.

Texas Health notes appointments can be scheduled by phone during weekday business hours, and walk-ins are also welcome.

Health insurance and hospitals: Texas Medicaid provider system outage and deadlines

Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) posted a reminder that the State of Texas Electronic Provider System (STEPS) was scheduled to be unavailable from Friday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, March 1 at 9 p.m. CST, due to a planned outage. TMHP said STEPS Release 2 was set to go live March 2.

The TMHP notice also lists upcoming program enrollment deadlines, including March 5 for several state fiscal year 2027 programs and March 18 for the SFY 2027 Quality Incentive Payment Program (Year 10).
