Measles tally rises statewide; new Orlando campus clinic and VA upgrades highlighted this week

Orlando, FL – March 4, 2026 – Measles counts rose statewide; an AdventHealth-backed campus clinic expands access; city reviews health plan services.

Outbreak watch: Florida measles totals rise

Central Florida residents are being reminded to monitor public-health updates after a new statewide measles tally showed a sharp week-over-week increase. WFTV reported March 2 that Florida had logged 114 measles cases as of Feb. 21, up from 92 on Feb. 14, citing the Florida Department of Health’s Reportable Diseases Frequency Report. The update also noted most cases were concentrated in Collier County, where an outbreak was first reported at Ave Maria University in late January.

State and local public-health responses can include targeted guidance and on-site support where clusters are identified.

New school-based clinic planned at Cristo Rey Orlando

AdventHealth announced March 2 that students, families and community partners recently broke ground on a new on-campus wellness center at Cristo Rey Orlando High School. The project includes the Burke Pavilion and an AdventHealth Clinic operated by TrueHealth, and is expected to provide medical care, dental services and mental health support in a familiar setting for students and families.

School-linked clinics are often designed to reduce barriers to routine care by bringing services closer to where families already spend time, while also supporting connections to primary care and community resources.

Orlando VA begins infrastructure upgrades

The Orlando VA Healthcare System said Feb. 27 it will begin infrastructure upgrades intended to support safe and effective patient care. The VA described the work as part of a larger Veterans Health Administration facilities modernization effort, and listed replacing galvanized domestic water lines at the Lake Baldwin VA site as one of the early projects for EPA compliance.

City reviews health-plan administrative services

The City of Orlando posted a Feb. 27 notice for an in-person advisory committee meeting tied to an active request for proposals for health plan administrative services. Procurement steps like advisory committee meetings are part of how local governments evaluate bids for services that can affect coverage administration for employees and dependents enrolled in city-sponsored health plans.
