Measles exposure locations updated across the Denver metro area as Colorado seeks earlier outbreak warnings
Denver, CO – March 4, 2026 – CDPHE expanded metro-area measles exposure lists and reported another school-linked case, as Colorado seeks global outbreak alerts.
Measles: exposure locations updated for the Denver metro
Colorado public health officials have continued to update a running list of places where people may have been exposed to measles in recent weeks, including sites that matter to Denver-area travelers and commuters.
On its statewide exposure-location page (last updated March 2), the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) continued to list exposure windows at Denver International Airport on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22–23, along with a Littleton church event on Feb. 22. The same page also includes multiple north-metro locations tied to other investigations, including retail, restaurant, and health care settings. CDPHE guidance for people who were at listed locations during the specified times includes monitoring for symptoms for 21 days after exposure and calling a clinic, urgent care, or emergency department before arriving if symptoms develop.
Feb. 27: case confirmed, with exposure sites across the north metro
In a Feb. 27 press release, CDPHE, Broomfield Public Health and Environment, and Boulder County Public Health confirmed a measles case in a Broomfield County resident and published additional potential exposure locations in Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville, and Westminster. Officials said the child had not received the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, had not traveled outside Colorado, and had no known connection to previously reported exposures.
March 2: second case linked to Broomfield High School
On March 2, CDPHE and the Adams County Health Department reported a measles case in an Adams County resident and said it was the second measles case associated with Broomfield High School. The March 2 notice added new time windows for potential exposures, including additional days at the school and brief visits to a Chick-fil-A in Broomfield and a Chipotle in Westminster. CDPHE said students and staff who may need additional precautions would be contacted directly by local public health officials and school administrators.
Outbreak preparedness: Colorado applies to join a global alert network
Also on March 2, The Colorado Sun reported that CDPHE has applied to join the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN). The report described the network as a way for participating institutions to share early information about emerging infectious disease threats internationally, with state officials saying it could provide more lead time for preparedness and response in Colorado.
