Measles exposure locations expand as Aurora facilities report safety and infrastructure updates
Aurora, CO – March 3, 2026 – Measles exposure alerts expand across the Front Range as Aurora sees updates at the Navigation Campus and VA hospital.
Measles case prompts new exposure locations and symptom-monitoring window
Colorado public health officials confirmed a measles case in a Broomfield County resident and released a list of potential exposure locations across Broomfield, Lafayette, Louisville and Westminster. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) said the child had not received the MMR vaccine and had no known connection to recent Colorado exposures, with no out-of-state travel reported.
CDPHE advised people who were at the listed sites during the specified times to monitor for symptoms for 21 days after exposure and to call ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department if symptoms develop, so facilities can limit additional exposures.
Metro air advisory: Action Day for visibility and indoor burning restrictions
For the Denver metro area, CDPHE issued an Action Day for visibility effective Tuesday, March 3, with indoor burning restrictions and a request to limit driving gas and diesel-powered vehicles in effect until at least 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 4. The agency said no other air quality advisories were in effect, and otherwise good to moderate air quality was expected.
Aurora navigation campus: mold testing cited as safe in occupied areas
The City of Aurora told CBS Colorado that air testing at the Aurora Regional Navigation Campus found occupied areas in the ‘green’ range for airborne mold concentrations, which officials described as within normal ranges for occupied buildings. The city said higher airborne mold concentrations were found on the fifth and sixth floors, which are not open to guests and remain closed while mitigation work continues.
City officials also said plumbing and sewage issues identified in mid-January were repaired and bathrooms and showers in occupied areas were functional, while renovations continue in portions of the building not fully open.
Aurora hospitals and care sites: facility and research updates
The VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System announced it has begun infrastructure upgrades in Aurora, citing projects intended to support safe and effective care. The first-quarter list included retrofitting a police area for ballistic protection, funded through the Veterans Health Administration’s Non-Recurring Maintenance program.
On the Anschutz Medical Campus, Children’s Hospital Colorado reported that the University of Colorado Anschutz Department of Pediatrics, its academic partner, ranked No. 1 nationwide in NIH pediatric research funding in 2025, with more than $63 million in awards reported by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.
