Measles update: New cases reported in southern New Mexico detention centers

New Mexico health officials reported four new measles cases identified in detention facilities in southern New Mexico, bringing the state’s total to five confirmed cases so far in 2026, according to KUNM. Officials said the cases were brought into the facilities by people transferred in from another state and that isolation and quarantine protocols were being used to limit spread.

Air quality: Moderate particulate levels reported in Albuquerque

While wood burning was not prohibited in the city’s daily update, the advisory asked residents to consider limiting or avoiding wood burning where possible to help protect air quality.

Hospitals: Presbyterian marks Route 66 centennial for new families

Presbyterian Hospital announced it plans to provide ‘Born on Route 66’ onesies to newborns delivered at the Albuquerque hospital during the Route 66 centennial year. The hospital said it anticipates nearly 3,000 births and that each baby born there will receive the commemorative onesie, according to KOB.
