Henderson-area health update: Boulder City Hospital’s planned May 1 shift, plus local screening and West Henderson Hospital event
Henderson, NV – March 4, 2026 – Boulder City Hospital details a May 1 shift to rural emergency care as Henderson events spotlight screening and family night.
Boulder City Hospital outlines May 1 conversion to Rural Emergency Hospital
Boulder City Hospital, a Clark County provider located in nearby Boulder City, says it plans to operate as a Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) effective May 1, 2026. In a public notice and community letter, the hospital describes the REH model as focused on keeping 24/7 emergency care available while shifting away from inpatient admissions.
According to the hospital, the facility plans to continue emergency department services, observation care and outpatient services after the conversion. The hospital also states that inpatient admissions would no longer be provided following the change, and that patients who need inpatient hospitalization would be stabilized and transferred to partner hospitals as clinically indicated.
The hospital’s public notice says the conversion is subject to review and approval by the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Written public comments on the proposed conversion are accepted through March 27, 2026, the notice states.
Staffing and service reductions reported ahead of the change
In separate reporting this week, FOX5 Las Vegas said Boulder City Hospital notified about 70 employees that their positions would be eliminated within 60 days as it transitions from a critical access hospital designation to the REH model. The report also said the hospital plans to end stays longer than 24 hours under the new designation and discontinue certain services tied to longer stays.
Henderson-area access points: screening event and hospital campus community night
In Henderson, an event listing from Care Access advertised free lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) screening Feb. 26–28 at Prestige Banquet and Event Center (1029 Whitney Ranch Dr.). The listing states insurance was not required and described Lp(a) as a factor in heart health that is not included in standard cholesterol tests.
Looking ahead, Get Healthy Clark County lists a ‘Family First Friday’ community event scheduled for March 6 at West Henderson Hospital (1155 Raiders Way) from 5 to 8 p.m., with live music, food trucks, kids crafts and other activities.
