Henderson, NV – March 25, 2026 – Boulder City Hospital plans to convert to a Rural Emergency Hospital on May 1, ending inpatient admissions and shifting to 24/7 emergency and ou…

Boulder City Hospital is preparing to transition to a Rural Emergency Hospital model effective May 1, 2026, a change that will end traditional inpatient admissions while keeping emergency and outpatient services in place for the region, including Henderson residents.

What the Rural Emergency Hospital Change Means

Under the new designation, the hospital will continue operating its emergency department around the clock. It will also maintain outpatient services such as laboratory testing, imaging and other scheduled care.

However, the facility will no longer accept inpatient admissions after May 1. Patients who require hospitalization beyond observation care will be stabilized and transferred to partner hospitals in the Las Vegas area for ongoing treatment.

Hospital leaders have described the shift as a way to address financial pressures while preserving access to emergency services locally.

Why It Matters for Henderson Residents

Although located in neighboring Boulder City, the hospital serves patients from across southern Nevada, including Henderson. For residents who use Boulder City Hospital for emergency visits, services will remain available on a 24/7 basis.

The primary difference will affect patients who need to be admitted for multi-day hospital stays. Those individuals will be transferred to facilities elsewhere in the Las Vegas Valley after initial evaluation and stabilization.

Other Henderson-area hospitals, including St. Rose Dominican Hospital’s Siena Campus and Henderson Hospital, will continue operating with inpatient capacity.

Public Comment Deadline This Week

Boulder City Hospital has posted a public notice stating that written comments regarding the proposed conversion must be received by March 27, 2026. The change is scheduled to take effect May 1, 2026.

Residents who want details about the transition or wish to submit comments can find information through the hospital’s official website.
