Energy Transfer Commits $15 Million to New Dallas Pediatric Hospital Campus
Dallas, TX – March 14, 2026 – A $15 million corporate gift boosts funding for the $5 billion pediatric campus rising in Dallas’ Medical District.
A major corporate donation is adding momentum to the new pediatric hospital campus under construction in Dallas’ Medical District. Energy Transfer and its management team have pledged $15 million toward the $5 billion joint project led by UT Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Health.
Support for a Growing Pediatric Campus
The contribution, announced March 11, represents Energy Transfer’s largest philanthropic gift to date. The funds will support development of the expansive pediatric campus, which has been under construction since October 2024 and is scheduled to open in 2031.
The project will span more than 4.9 million square feet and will be anchored by Moody Children’s Hospital. Plans call for 552 beds across three towers, creating one of the largest pediatric-focused medical campuses in the region.
Leaders from UT Southwestern and Children’s Health have said the campus is designed to bring diagnosis, surgery, advanced interventions and recovery services together in a single, coordinated environment for children with complex medical needs.
Why It Matters for Dallas Families
North Texas’ pediatric population is projected to grow significantly in the coming decades, underscoring demand for expanded children’s healthcare capacity. The new campus is intended to meet that growth with additional inpatient beds, specialty services and integrated care models.
Hospital officials have previously emphasized that the facility’s design reflects input from clinicians, architects, patients and families, with an emphasis on collaboration and family-centered care. Energy Transfer’s gift will be recognized through named spaces within the new hospital, including family lounges and a patient floor.
The campus has attracted significant philanthropic backing from Dallas-area corporations and individual donors since it was first announced.
What Residents Should Know
The pediatric campus remains under construction and is expected to open in 2031. Existing Children’s Health and UT Southwestern facilities continue to operate as usual during the buildout.
