El Paso Reports 17 Measles Cases, Lists Public Exposure Sites Across City

El Paso, TX – March 9, 2026 – City health officials confirmed 17 measles cases, including four in El Paso, and identified multiple public exposure sites.

El Paso health officials have confirmed 17 measles cases connected to the region, including four within city limits, and are alerting residents about several public exposure locations visited in late February.

Measles Cases Identified in City and Federal Facility

The City of El Paso Department of Public Health reported four confirmed measles cases inside the city. Officials also said they are aware of 13 additional cases tied to the East Montana federal facility at Fort Bliss, with those cases reported through federal authorities.

According to the city, local health teams are coordinating with federal partners and have provided testing support and vaccine supply when requested. Measles is a highly contagious viral illness that can spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Public Exposure Locations Announced

In its public notice, the health department identified several locations visited between February 20 and February 22 where potential exposures may have occurred. Sites include the Apple Store at Cielo Vista Mall, Del Sol Medical Center, the Outlet Shoppes area, a Target store in the Bassett area, and several restaurants.

Officials stated that individuals who were at the listed locations during the specified times and later develop symptoms such as fever and rash should contact a healthcare provider for evaluation. The department has also opened a measles hotline to address community concerns.

Vaccination Access Expanded

To help limit further spread, the city is offering walk-in immunizations on weekdays at its Lower Valley, Henderson, Northeast, and Westside community clinics. Appointments are also available by phone.

Health officials continue to emphasize vaccination as the most effective way to prevent measles infection and reduce community transmission.

What Residents Should Know

Residents can review the city’s official exposure list and clinic hours through the El Paso Department of Public Health. Those unsure about their vaccination status may check their records or speak with a healthcare provider. Updates are expected as investigations continue.

If you have urgent symptoms, seek medical care. For general questions, talk with a licensed clinician.
