Hospital access: Boulder City Hospital plans Rural Emergency Hospital conversion

Boulder City Hospital says it will transition to a Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) provider type effective May 1, 2026, a change intended to keep 24/7 emergency and outpatient services available while addressing financial pressures.

Under the REH model described by the hospital, the facility will continue emergency department services, observation care and outpatient services such as lab and imaging. The hospital says it will stop accepting inpatient admissions as of May 1, and patients who need inpatient hospitalization beyond observation will be stabilized and transferred to partner facilities in the Las Vegas area through transfer arrangements.

The hospital also posted a public notice stating that written public comments about the proposed conversion must be received by March 27, 2026.

Health insurance: State employee plan changes under review

Nevada’s Public Employees’ Benefits Program (PEBP) board discussed potential adjustments for the upcoming plan year, including options that could change monthly premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums for many state employees and retirees. A final decision is expected in March, according to reporting that cited the Nevada Health Authority.

Facility upgrades: VA Southern Nevada lists Q1 projects

The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System announced infrastructure work it says is aimed at supporting safe and effective patient care. The projects listed for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 include replacing operating room flooring in Building 1 and adding project and construction management services.

A lawsuit filed in Clark County District Court alleges a guest contracted Legionnaires’ disease after stays at The Grandview and South Point Hotel Casino & Spa in 2023, according to a press release from a law firm.
