What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses on enhancing the appearance of a patient’s teeth, gums, and overall smile. It involves a range of dental procedures that are primarily designed to improve the aesthetics of the mouth, rather than treat specific dental issues such as cavities or gum disease. Some of the most common cosmetic dentistry procedures include teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, crowns, and orthodontic treatments such as braces and clear aligners. Cosmetic dentistry may also involve procedures to reshape or contour the gums, as well as dental implant procedures to replace missing or damaged teeth. The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to create a healthy, natural-looking smile that complements a patient’s overall appearance and improves their self-esteem and confidence. Cosmetic dentists typically have specialized training and experience in the field of cosmetic dentistry and may be certified by professional organizations. While it may not help the overall health of your teeth, it can help you improve your bite and smile. Recent surveys have revealed that 83% of participants said their teeth take top priority when it comes to looking their best, so we know it’s important! Speaking of physical appearance, surveys have also shown that teeth have even been rated as more important than hair, eyes, and skin!
