An optometrist is a healthcare professional who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of vision problems and eye diseases. They provide comprehensive eye care, including performing eye exams, prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses, and diagnosing and treating common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. They may also provide pre- and post-operative care for patients who have undergone eye surgery.
