A neonatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the care of newborn infants, particularly those who are premature or have other health problems at birth. Neonatologists work with other medical professionals, such as nurses and respiratory therapists, to provide specialized care to newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or other neonatal settings. They are responsible for diagnosing and treating medical conditions that affect newborns, including breathing problems, infections, and birth defects.
